The TECNA 9506AX is an ATEX-certified zero-gravity balancer for tool suspension in potentially explosive atmospheres. Unlike a retractor, a zero-gravity balancer holds the suspended load at whatever height the operator leaves it — once set, the load remains stationary at the released position rather than returning to a rest height. AtEx certification requires the balancer to be entirely conductive, grounded, and built from spark-proof materials so it can be used safely around flammable gases, vapours, or combustible dusts. The 9506AX is certified to II 2G Ex h IIA T6 Gb for gas and II 2D Ex h IIIC T85°C Db for combustible dust, suitable for use in ATEX-designated hazardous areas matching that classification. The 9506AX carries a load capacity of 132.28–132.28 lbs (60–70 kg) over a working stroke of 82.68 in. (2100 mm), with a stainless steel rope and cast aluminum body running on a tapered drum and ball bearings. A friction-brake device (Option F) that controls drum rotation speed is available when placing a new order; it cannot be retrofitted to installed units. A locking-unlocking device (Option BC) and a conductive rotating hook (Option RC) are also available as accessories.
