Category: Tool Balancers

TECNA tool balancers suspend and balance industrial tools overhead, reducing operator strain while keeping tools easily accessible and ready for use. Available in a wide range of configurations for general production, hazardous environments, food processing, electronics, and demanding ergonomic applications.

Air-Hose Balancers

Air-Hose Balancers

Air-hose balancers combine tool suspension and air supply in a single retractable line — the hose that delivers air to the pneumatic tool is the same line that suspends and balances it. The tool hangs overhead ready for use, pulls down smoothly to the work point, and retracts when released, with no separate air line trailing across the bench or floor. The result is a cleaner workstation with no trip hazards, no hose kinking or abrasion damage, and one less thing to manage at the point of work.

Bowden Retractors

Bowden Retractors

A Bowden retractor separates the spring mechanism from the point where the tool hangs. The retraction cable runs through a flexible outer conduit — the same principle as a bicycle brake cable — so the spring housing can mount wherever space allows while the retraction force is delivered exactly where it’s needed, in any direction. Unlike a standard balancer, a Bowden retractor doesn’t require vertical, top-down mounting: it can be installed remotely from the work point, replace costly pulley arrangements, and even serve moving application points such as sliding rails and articulating arms. This patented TECNA design suits lighter hand, air, and power tools, with load capacities from 4.4 to 31 lbs and strokes up to 98 inches.

ESD Balancers

ESD Balancers

In electronics manufacturing, a single static discharge can damage or destroy sensitive components — sometimes instantly, sometimes as a hidden defect that fails later in the field. TECNA ESD balancers are built for these environments, with static-dissipative materials in the cable and housing and a grounded construction that safely bleeds charge away instead of letting it build on the suspended tool. They meet the resistance requirements for use in ESD-protected areas, making them a drop-in fit for electronics assembly workstations.

Explosion-Resistant (ATEX) Balancers

Explosion-Resistant (ATEX) Balancers

In locations classified as hazardous under ATEX directives – Zone 0, 1, 2 for gases and vapors, Zone 20, 21, 22 for dusts – any equipment installed must be designed and certified to prevent it from becoming an ignition source. TECNA ATEX Balancers are engineered to eliminate ignition risk through the selection of non-sparking materials, controlled surface temperatures, and construction methods that prevent the accumulation of static charge. The correct specification for petrochemical and refinery environments, paint spray booths, solvent handling areas, grain and flour processing facilities, and any other classified hazardous location.

Food Industry Balancers

Food Industry Balancers

Food industry balancers are constructed and finished to meet the hygiene requirements applicable to equipment used in food processing, packaging, and handling environments. Material selection excludes substances that could contaminate food product. External surfaces are smooth, without recesses or joints that could harbor bacterial growth, and are compatible with the cleaning agents and sanitizing chemicals used in food production.

Stainless Steel Cable Balancers (INOX Rope)

Stainless Steel Cable Balancers (INOX Rope)

Stainless steel cable balancers — also called INOX rope balancers — are TECNA’s standard, general-purpose balancer line, and the most complete and versatile range they make: capacities from 0.4 to 397 lbs (0.2–180 kg) with stroke lengths up to 118 inches (3000 mm). Each balancer carries its load on a stainless steel wire rope, paying out and retracting smoothly with easy, precise tension adjustment. The full line carries the GS safety mark, meaning every design has been independently tested to the strictest European safety standards — ropes proven to many times their rated load, and fall-protection systems verified to catch the load if a spring ever fails. The line includes both retractors, which return the tool to a preset position after use, and zero-gravity balancers, which hold the tool floating wherever the operator leaves it.

More Information about Tool Balancers

Tool Balancers for Industrial Applications

TECNA offers a complete range of tool balancers designed to improve ergonomics, organization, and productivity in industrial workstations. By offsetting the weight of a suspended tool, a balancer allows operators to position and use the tool with minimal effort, then smoothly retract it when released.

Tool balancers help reduce repetitive lifting and holding, while keeping tools off work surfaces and floors for a cleaner, safer workstation.
